Other education and training
We provide rescue services and emergency response centre personnel with opportunities for continuous learning, thus promoting safe and meaningful work at all stages of their careers. We plan and implement continuing professional education on rescue services and emergency response centre operations, organise training for rescue service contract personnel, and provide civil defence training consisting of preparedness training and training for international civil protection operations.
Coming to training?
Are you coming to the Emergency Services Academy for training? Report at the Student Affairs Office and get a parking permit for your car from the lobby services. Remember to have an official identity card (passport or ID card) with you! Depending on the training, in addition to the teaching, we also provide accommodation services at the course hotel and meals at the Restaurant Tulikukko.
International civil protection training
International civil protection operations refer to assistance provided to a foreign state in a situation where said state has encountered a natural or man-made disaster and is unable to manage the situation with their own resources and requests international assistance.
The Emergency Services Academy is responsible for the training, recruitment, equipment, and dispatch of formations and experts to international civil protection operations. The Emergency Services Academy provides training for international civil protection operations in Finland and sends rescue service professionals and other experts abroad for training.
Training for contract fire brigade personnel
The Emergency Services Academy answers for the preparation, maintenance, and development of the curriculum for contract fire brigade personnel participating in rescue operations, for the education of instructors, for the maintenance of the instructor register, and for the production of teaching material.
Contract fire brigade personnel participating in rescue operations are required to receive training in accordance with the Emergency Services Academy curriculum.
Continuing professional education
We enable the maintenance and development of professional competence of rescue service professionals by providing opportunities for continuing professional education to answer the competence needs at work.
Our programmes bring together the producers, users, and developers of new knowledge and competence. This creates new thinking and solution models and innovative cooperation networks.
Preparedness training
The provision of preparedness training for public administration is a national and statutory task of the Emergency Services Academy. The purpose of the training is to prepare public administration operators for incidents and unusual conditions in order to ensure that they can remain operational without disruptions also under such circumstances.
Preparedness training includes training for civil defence personnel and training that promotes preparedness. Training is provided to municipalities and federations of municipalities, Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, Regional State Administrative Agencies, rescue departments, and even to the Defence Forces. For example, the basic course on emergency planning for municipalities and regional preparedness exercises are provided as preparedness training. The training courses provided by the Emergency Services Academy are tailored and need-based.
