Processing of personal data
Personal data is only stored for a justified reason. As a rule, the data is needed for the performance of the statutory duties of the Emergency Services Academy, for the implementation of services, and for communication.
Information on personal data processed by the Emergency Services Academy in its registers is compiled in the privacy statements at the end of this page.
The data is processed by Emergency Services Academy employees and service providers and their subcontractors, with whom the Emergency Services Academy has agreed on the processing of personal data in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation. The privacy statements describe the disclosure of data on a register-specific basis.
The data is stored either in accordance with the Emergency Services Academy’s information management plan or in accordance with the service’s life cycle or until the client cancels the service or their consent to the processing of their data. The privacy statements describe the retention periods by register in more detail.
The Emergency Services Academy uses secure e-mail. Secure e-mail is intended for situations where the message itself or its attachments contain confidential information or personal data (e.g. personal identity codes).
Rights of the service user
1. Right to inspect your data
You can request and obtain access to your personal data stored in the services by submitting an inspection request to the Emergency Services Academy. Inspection requests must primarily be delivered personally to the Emergency Services Academy’s lobby services, where the request is made and the identity verified. The request can also be submitted personally to the Data Protection Officer. If you send your request by letter or by e-mail as a scanned document (making the verification of your identity impossible), our reply will be sent by registered mail, which can be retrieved from the nearest Posti service point.
2. Rectification or supplementation of data
The user may request that the data be rectified if they detect deficiencies or inaccuracies in the data. The user may request that the data be rectified or supplemented by submitting a request for rectification of register data to the Emergency Services Academy. In these situations, the user must state which information is incorrect and justify the incorrectness and how the data should be changed, or indicate which data should be supplemented and how. Requests must primarily be delivered personally to the Emergency Services Academy’s lobby services, where the request is made and the identity verified. If the request is sent by letter or by e-mail as a scanned document (making the verification of your identity impossible), our reply will be sent by registered mail, which can be retrieved from the nearest Posti service point.
3. Restriction of processing
If the user reports that the data is incorrect, they have the right to request that the processing of said data be restricted until its accuracy has been verified. The restriction request can be made using the same form as the request for rectification.
4. Withdrawal of consent to data processing
The user has the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The consent must be withdrawn in writing. Withdrawal of consent can be submitted either to the Data Protection Officer or to the registry of the Emergency Services Academy. You can erase your subscription data for newsletters at any time by unsubscribing using the link provided in each email message you receive.
5. Complaints concerning the processing of personal data
The user has the right to file a complaint about the processing of their personal data to the Data Protection Ombudsman.
